Vinted Members Express Anger Regarding Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
