Ten individuals found guilty of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

The accused individuals faced allegations of circulating false claims regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to publishing hurtful comments about the pair's 24-year age gap.

The court delivered suspended jail terms of as much as eight months to the defendants. The detailed judgment has not yet been published.

A circulating false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This Monday's court decision in France coincides with the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's identity.

Their legal filing contends that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions choosing instead to platforming known conspiracy theorists.

Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her podcast and online platforms, and in March 2024 declared that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her now-husband when she worked as an educator at his lycée.

The two tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
