Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Table

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces growing in strength within the urban setting.

Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of heroes who will separate from the main group to begin their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.

This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are rare.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look mismatched, but the events of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose death initiated the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

Casimir then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each character has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
  • Kattigan has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous place.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could enable the party enter areas they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the family.

This results in them few options but to head to the remote area in search of Casimir.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Questers and Schemers groups.

Audiences can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
